The next beach clean up is set for Saturday 24th March. The area will be Island Bay.

Meet at the shop 9am & go for a dive (air free), then go for a pick up for an hour. Finished by 1pm.

Help keep the foreshore clean; one hour & a dedicated group is all it needs.

The 2011 scallop season ends on 14 February; so .. Tuesday is the last chance to get your scallops for the next five months. The season opens again on the 15th of July 2012.

Don’t forget the limit is 20 per person & the minimum size is 100mm across the widest point.

Record Trevally

This is the most sustainable method of fishing!

We have a spearfishing and a snorkeling course with spots available that will be running sometime before the end of the month. Come in and see us for a spot!

1. Snorkeling course $60 - Covers the basics of snorkeling including skills and drills with 1 hour theory and 1 hour in the pool

2. Spearfishing course $150 -  An intro to spearfishing. It covers safety, gear, marine life and hunting techniques. With a 1 hour theory and a 2 hour sea dive. Own gun, knife & float is required for sea dives. 

Your own mask, snorkel and fins are required.
Gear hire for snorkeling courses $20 and spearfishing hire is $30 (not including the gun knife or float).

1. Rescue Diver – Last weekend of Janruary. Three days, eleven dive moduals plus academics
2. Advance Course – 2nd Weekend of Febuary. Seven dives, including 2 boat dives

The next open water course is Febuary.
We use the deepest pool in Wellington and we have the most seadives. Our courses run over 5 nights (theory & pool)
and all day for two Sundays (Seadives). The course is completed within 9 days of commencement.
The Openwater course includes 5 sea dives and 6 free post course sea dives. The cost of the course is $450.

Island Bay

1. Advanced course  ( 7 dives including boat dives & HMNZS Wellington dive) – December ’11. You need to read a text and complete the knowledge quizzes before starting this course

3. InDepth Free diving course: run by Dave Mullens. Three day day course. Next course starts December 2nd.
Dave is 28 years old and currently lives in Wellington. He was a spearfisher for several years and broke the world record for striped marlin before taking up competitive freediving in 2004. Since then he has set 12 national freediving records and 4 world records. He was ICARE male freediver of the year in 2008. His current goal is to break the world constant weight record, which is held by Martin Stepanek of Czechoslovakia at 122m.

Boat trips (two dives) minimum 4 people. Please contact us to book in advance (don’t forget to leave a contact number) & ring in at 5pm the day before your trip to catch the latest forecast & what’s happening.

Boat trips are usually on the weekend. We have trips to the South Coast or Kapiti. Trips are either scuba dives (scenic dives or crayfish) or a spearfishing only trip.

The Frigate Wellington (F69) is now in several pieces. Each section is a good wreck dive. Boat dives are on Wednesdays at 4pm.  Normally one dive.

We also have Four Wheel Drive trips that operate past Sinclair Head (Devil’s Gap). These are available any day of the week. One dive. Freedivers/ spearfishers and scuba divers welcome.

All trips need to be booked in advance/ minimum numbers apply.
