Coronavirus (COVID-19) – What’s IBD doing about it?
Now the virus has arrived in Wellington, divers need to be aware of the need for further care of the equipment which could harbour the virus.
Basically this is any item that is in direct contact with the user’s respiratory tract. These are:
Mask
snorkel
2nd stages of regulators
BCD inflators, if used orally.
Current research indicates that household cleaners are effective against COVID-19.
While we normally use a commercial quality cleaner & deodorent for washing all equipment, the items above will now be soaked in 10% bleach for ten minutes, after which they will be rinsed in fresh water and dried.
